When Your Breakthrough is a Pig

When hearing the word breakthrough we think about the other side of a situation. Most of the t

ime, we expect it (our desired breakthrough) to be better and brighter (than our current situation) and often times, it is. But what happens when your breakthrough finally comes and it looks like a pig? Unattractive, has a snout, beady eyes, rough pink skin, and is mud covered. Not quite what we wanted right? The initial response is to react, and probably not in a positive way.

Imagine that you are on a game show and you made it to the final round. You finally get to the prize door and you are celebrating, hopping, barely able to control your excitement, and praying that, behind that door is a NEW, BEAUTIFUL, SHINY RED convertible, but, when the time comes for you to open it, only to find an old rusty truck. What do you do?

What about this one, you wait all year for your trip to a beautiful island, you can barely pack your clothes for thinking of how you plan to lay on the beach, sipping fruity drinks, and laughing until you can’t laugh anymore, and you get to the airport and discover that you LEFT YOUR PASSPORT. Yikes, that is not a good thing to even think about, lol.

We may not always get what we want - and that is ok. As much as we may want something or feel that we deserve something, God knows best for us. Sometimes the better that He has for us, comes packaged totally different than what we may have expected, if it comes and its a pig, have a BBQ, if its an old rusty truck, become friends with a classic car restorer -learning to restore once beautiful things, can be exciting, and if you forget your passport, go home to get it BUT take the airplane pilot with you, this will ensure that you do not get left, lol (don't try that, seriously. I only wanted you to laugh. PLEASE make sure you pack all important information). Its OK to laugh, even during disappointing times.

Laugh through it. Smile through it. Grow through it. We can not live in the place of disappointment, so grab your hat and coat AND leave!

Job 18:21 He will yet fill your mouth with laughter, and your lips with shouting

When disappointment knocks at your door, uninvited and unexpected, meditate on these scriptures:

Proverbs 19:21 “Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.”

Isaiah 14:24 “The Lord of hosts has sworn: “As I have planned, so shall it be, and as I have purposed, so shall it stand…”

Proverbs 23:18 “Surely there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off.”

Psalm 27:14 “Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord.”

Isaiah 58:11 “And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, whose waters do not fail.”

Be encouraged NOT discouraged.

With love,
