A Clarion Call: Prophets Arise

1 Samuel 3:19 King James Version (KJV)19 And Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground.

The Body of Christ lives in a society where the word of the Lord seemingly has little value. In a time of high technology and mass communication, it appears that we have all of the answers or either we have access to the answers. The problem is that we are not asking the right questions. The scripture says that the word of the Lord was precious in Prophet Samuel’s day. Because there was no open vision, (widespread revelation) the people wanted to hear what God was saying. They wanted to know about their future and they understood that the omniscient God would have the answers.

When we recognize that he is the author and finisher of our faith, then his word becomes precious to us. He speaks and sets our lives on course. He speaks again and our children and grandchildren are blessed. He knows the plans that he has for us, and only through seeking him will they become evident to us.

The Prophet Amos prophesied to the nations that there would be a famine of the word of the Lord.(Amos 8; 11,12). Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord...

These are powerful words because God himself has stated that man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of His mouth. So the truth of the matter is that there is an abundance of the word and God’s people have to speak them forth to those dying souls who will not pick up a bible, but desperately need a word from the Lord. That life giving, yoke destroying, burden lifting voice of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

I would like to think that these words are still precious. What we say should have influence, because while we are here on this earth, we are agents of change. We change lives, we change circumstances, and we change mindsets by the words of wisdom that are released from heaven's storehouse. However; the same things that hindered God’s people in biblical times are still prevalent today. I will share part II , "Hinderances", next week.
